To sum up, this two-days trip in the Kromer quarry was highly succesfull and rewarding, despite a slow start in the first day and the hot temperatures. The trunk of the car was fully loaded by the end of the second day! I highly suggest to anyone visiting southern Germany to stop at this place, you won't be disappointed.

PA - Fossil Hunting Trips - The Fossil Forum Achanarras quarry for anyone who doesn't know it is the most famous Devonian fish fossil sites in Scotland. The rocks there formed at the bottom of tropical lake 385 million years ago and have produced fossils of over 15 different species of mid Devonian fish. This past Sunday I had the opportunity to join in a Dallas Paleo Society sponsored trip to the Ash Grove quarry in Midlothian, Texas. As with other quarries in this area, they are mining the carbonates of the Austin Group and often expose the Atco Fm.
