Pneumonia Droplet Precautions - Sports

Why aren't pneumonia patients placed on isolation precautions in the hospital? My med-surg books are telling me it's spread through contact and respiratory droplets, and even some of the NCLEX pneumonics say it's contact or resp iso. But we NEVER put pts w/ pneumonia on iso in the hospital so I'm just a little confused.

A. In the KAPLAN class, we learned that pneumonia is categorized under Droplet precautions. Yet in this question it must be OK to put a pneumonia patient with another patient. Is this allowed for all the diseases listed under Droplet precautions?

I see on various websites/textbooks that pneumonia is listed as "droplet precautions." However--I never see this done in the real world.

Why is that? (Ps- I also looked up an old thread on here relating to the topic, and it was stated by various users that they too never saw isolation for these pts done in the real world. It doesn't live in the droplets, so RSV patients are only on contact precautions. But in general, all patients who present with pneumonia-like symptoms who are coughing and/or sneezing will be on droplet precautions until their illness can be determined.
