And Giannis escalated the situation by attempting to use accusations of tanking to undercut the Bucks' negotiating posture. Whether Giannis will be compelled to expand the list of teams he'd commit to signing an extension with before a deal is the critical question. This stuck out to me, seems like Giannis wanted to come back to get a bonus from Nike: “Multiple sources said the Bucks' decision to sit Antetokounmpo cost him a significant bonus in his Nike endorsement contract that would have been triggered if he played at least 41 games.” Re: Giannis Thread - Shams story (4/7/26) Post #1770 » by DanoMac » Tue 7:35 pm RE: Horst. I know he's mentioned in the Shams article, but wasn't there just a Lori Nickel piece a few weeks ago quoting an unnamed Exec that said the owners were handling the Giannis trade talks way more than Horst was?

Really makes sense too with how the team and vibes completely fell off when he got injured the first time a month into the season. Trade rumors popped up immediately too. Giannis is the #1 reason this season has turned out like it has between missing time and poisoning the locker room with uncertainty and ulterior motives. Doesn't change anything that came before and that should still be celebrated.
giannis smile, 100% true. Perfect take. This year = his fault. Doesnt change anything that happened before this year. or the last ... The way Giannis has conducted himself since ousting Bud certainly speaks to how he could have a Russell Westbrook kind of decline.
But even then a 7-foot Westbrook is a radically different animal. Giannis filed a grievance with the players union. That was a very aggressive action not words. If it weren’t for that I’d be more receptive to the idea there’s a path to reconciliation.
